UNLV Facilities Management Facility Consolidation

UNLV Facilities Management Facility Consolidation

The UNLV Facilities Management department provides awide range of services in ranging from administrative rolesto technical service and maintenance roles, which areessential in keeping UNLV’s large portfolio of buildings andcampus locations operational. This architectural feasibilitystudy aimed to bring all of the Facilities Managementdepartments together under one roof in an efficient, upto-date environment which will support the department’scurrent needs as well as provide for anticipated growth. Athorough needs assessment was conducted via interviewswith Facilities Management executive leadership anddepartment leads, with documentation of the outcomebeing reflected in the program matrices within this study.Through study of the input from the department, and ofthe existing facilities, space needs were assessed andtranslated into a proposed floor plan for a three-storyfacility consisting largely of shop and warehouse space onthe first level, office and support space on the second levelwith close connections to the shops below via multiplestairs and elevators, and executive/administrative officedepartments as well as shell space for future growthsituated on the third floor. Ultimately, the focus on flexibilityand common sharing of elements will allow the departmentto evolve over time as needs change, while still making fulluse of this new consolidated facility.
